Named after “Big Dorothy” Putnam, Dorothy’s Lounge is a speakeasy and gaming parlor in historic downtown Helena, Montana.

Big Dorothy was a woman of the people. She was very well-liked and respected by everyone. She ran a brothel directly above our lounge and neighbors, Windbag Saloon, from 1954 until 1973 when a final raid of the establishment shut her down.

While Dorothy had her blemishes, she was one of Helena’s most famous residents. We thought it was important to honor her legacy, and here we are - Dorothy’s Lounge & Gaming Parlor.
